Thomas has met some really cool friends so far in his first year of High School:-) I am so happy. Good friends mean so much in life...especially in High School. They are what get you through those 4 years. A few of them came over to swim today after school:-)

Now...I take too many pills - luckily all of these are vitamins..except one:-)
My mom got me this beautiful candle holder that I put in my house today...and I just LOVE IT! Thanks Mama! You have such great taste:-) This is also a few pics from Family dinner (my b-day dinner) at Moms!
This weekend my Dad is coming in town and him, and lots of my friends are going out for dinner! I am really looking forward to having everyone together. I haven't spent a b-day with my Dad in I can't tell you how long! Most of my friends haven't even met him. It will be a real treat!!
Thomas has been in a small private school since 1st grade...then moved to another private school last year when we bought our home in Mansfield.
This year he REALLY wanted to go to a public school. He said he wanted to experience a "real" High School...that offered tons of stuff...and had lots of kids. His past schools had been tiny.
After doing some research on the Mansfield public schools I decided to let him go. It's a great school and has a lot to offer him.
He enrolled in Theater Arts, Journalism, Art...etc... That is what he loves to do! His past schools didn't offer these typed of electives...and not on this level even if they did offer it. The Theater Arts program at this school is HUGE! Thomas is really going to be able to grow his acting and writing skills! I am so excited for him. Oh, and for once he gets to pick what he wears to school!!!
This was a picture I took of him right before we walked out the door this morning. He looks AWESOME!!!!
When I picked him up this afternoon he was grinnin' from ear to ear. He LOVES it! He had a great day!!! I am sooooo happy:-)

This past weekend we went to try out Avila's. It's a little Mexican restaurant in Dallas. It was YUMMY! I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars. We hit the place at the end of the lunch rush....so some of the food wasn't super fresh...but it was still good. I would go back for sure!!!
Here is the Triple D video for Avila's
Here are a few pics of me and Stacey:-)
And this is the outfit that I created on polyvore.com. I was able to find something very similar at Kohl's...love it! The shoes are super cute!! It was a great day with a great friend:-)

My son posted this on his facebook. It really opened my eyes to a few things.
He listens to a band called Black Veil Brides....they have crazy hair...wear make-up...and most would call them freaks. The more I learn about this band...the more I like them. Being a teenager isn't easy and being yourself and not "fitting" into a certain group is even harder.
The lead singer of Black Veil Brides wrote this to his fans...LOVE IT!
I wanted to share with you guys something that my mother did when I was about 14 that still to this day makes my heart swell with love and pride.
Most of you know that I grew up in the Midwest, I am an only child and was encouraged at an early age to be what ever I wanted to be. My parents supported everything I ever did...and when I wanted to go to school wearing 3 inch lime green creepers and matching eyeshadow all my dad would tell me is "if you want to look that way and it makes you comfortable then we support you..however you have to learn to defend yourself because out there the world is full of people who will not understand you in the way that we do and they will do everything in their power to hurt you, call you names, or simply bring you down". My parents taught me that our home was a "bubble" meaning that no matter what happened to any of us in our day to day lives..when we all came home and were a family NOTHING could effect us within the context of that "bubble". This very notion is what shaped my concept for BVB, I wanted to create a world wide "bubble" for those who felt like me...an outcast..so that when you listen to our record or come to one of our shows you feel just as safe and loved as I did at 13 sitting in my bed room listening to the Misfits and dreaming of the day I'd be on stage.
This brings me to what I wanted to share with you all...one shining example among many of our families strength and love outside of our "bubble"
My mother works for the childrens hospital in Cincinnati Ohio and as a part of her job she is required to (like in many jobs) attend yearly training seminars that take place outside of the office and are meant to help shape the employees work skills, social skills, etc.
One of the main draws of these seminars are the "key note speakers" people that are supposed "experts" in their field and are there to share their knowledge over the course of an hour long speech and power point presentation (sound familiar? haha)
Anyway, one day my mother attended one of these speeches that was being done by a middle aged man. He was your typical Midwestern 50 something year old man..lots of rhetoric...plenty of bias, you know haha
His speech was on dealing with people in the workplace in a kind and respectful manner regardless of the situation.
He began to tell a story about he and his wife having dinner with a few friends in an applebees, the story went as follows:
"and my wife and I were sitting there and suddenly this kid walks in and I started to bust out laughing, I mean he had the spikey pink and black hair..the makeup, piercings...tattoos, just so silly...and my dear wife..she is more kind than I..she hushed me and said "honey you shouldn't laugh...don't you know that boy is just some mothers heart break? I mean LOOK at him".
Not another word had passed before my other stood up and firmly said "That boy was my son"
"what? Oh I had no idea...I'm sorry" the speaker said.
My mother then replied
"No you don't understand, that boy may not have been my son, but what you just described..that boy represents my son, my beautiful son whom I am so very proud of.
He is the furthest thing from "heartbreak" he is kind and talented and loving. He has a dream that he will follow and I will support him every step of the way. He may not want to dress like you or your wife sir, but I promise you that my boy and every other child who is a "freak" to you is the apple of their mothers eye"
She then walked away.
She called me and told me everything that had happened, and I (as I am now) began to tear up and have a overwhelming rush of happiness and love come over me.
I was loved in a way I could never describe and even though I has always known my parents loved me...I was hearing proof that no matter what...I was safe.
The reason I wanted to share this with you is I feel as if sometimes the outside world (and even for some of you your OWN families) try to convince you that you are not loved..that you are not special. This is simply untrue.
Each and every one of us has a flame inside of us, a flame that no one else could ever extinguish, and if you ever feel alone I want you to remember this...as my mother and father did for me...Black Veil Brides will stand strong for you, we will take on the worlds hatred so that you don't have to.
Live your life..listen to your music way too loud, be as crazy and as "different" as you want to be and always remember you're not alone.
Thanks for reading my little story...I hope it helped some of you
above all else I hope maybe now you have a little greater understanding of why this band..and it's message means so much to me.
to my parents Chris (Brock) and Amy, thank you for teaching me what love truly is.

OMG...this is the SWEETEST dog ever! He has completely attached to my heart!!! I love him so much. Here are a few recent pics of him. I mean seriously?? look at that face...don't you just want to give him a bog ole' kiss??? His name is Singer...and he is my baby boy:-)
7 months old!
Thomas and I went on a little staycation this past weekend. It was lots of fun! What a great way to get away and go on a vacation...but not have to expense of actually "going" somewhere:-) It was nice!
We started out our staycation at "The Holocaust Museum". Wow...what an experience. I didn't know half of the stuff that I learned at this museum. What a sad reality that things like this have really happened. Ugh....it got my in my gut:-(
Then we went to the "The 6th Floor Museum" which was really neat. It was sad...but interesting to learn all of the details of the Kennedy assassination. Sometimes you live in a city for years and never see what the tourist come in town for...so that is what Thomas and I did:-)
Next, we walked around downtown Dallas a little...and learned some more about it's history.
We stopped in at "The Cosmic Cafe" for lunch. This is out FAVORITE place to eat in Dallas. It's a vegetarian restaurant...but it's YUMMMMY! You will never miss the meat here....well...my husband might....but most people wouldn't...lol.
After we were done with the museums and lunch we went to check into our hotel. We stayed at The Gaylord Texan. It' s a beautiful hotel located on lake Grapevine. Joel and I got married on lake Grapevine...and stayed the night of our wedding here at The Gaylord:-) The room was really nice. We got checked in and decided to head down to the pool for a bit. It was PACKED...but we hung out and swam for a little while. Then we went back to our room...to relax...order some room service and chill until it was time to get ready to head out for the show.
We went to see "The Cirque du Soleil - Dralion". It was AMAZING! If you have never been YOU MUST GO! It really is a great show! Here is a clip of the show:-) One of the coolest things is that everything is live...the music...the singing...It's AWESOME!
After the show we headed back to our room...ordered room service...stayed up late watching movies...then crashed out!
We got up the next morning...checked out and headed out to spend the day with my sister!
It was a very short staycation...but lots of fun! We got a lot done in one day:-) Whew!
I am playing another short trip for up this spring....we are going to head to New Orleans....to check it out. I am looking forward to a little voodoo....swamplands...gators....and some delicious FOOD!!!!
