Thanksgiving.....

Last Tuesday I was on my way home from work and decided to stop at McDonald's before going home to pack for our trip to Tennessee. Yes, I ate McDonald's...and decided that I would eat whatever I wanted the whole week of Thanksgiving:-) When I pulled into the drive-through I noticed a woman pull up behind me in an old beat up mini van with 3 or 4 kids inside. She looked stressed like maybe that day wasn't a great day for her. I decided to do something nice and hope that it would make at least one part of her day better...and it was almost Thanksgiving! When I pulled through to pay for my food I asked the guy to also take care of the lady behind me. Her total was like 25 bucks or something. He asked if I was sure I wanted to pay for her. I said of course!! And told the guy to please tell her I said Happy Thanksgiving. He thought it was pretty cool of me to do that. I look at it this way. Sometimes you just need to make that extra step to do something that you wouldn't normally do. I know it was only a meal at McDonald's...but it was one meal that she didn't have to pay for. Hopefully she could use that $25 somewhere else:-) It felt good to give something to someone that I didn't know and will never meet. If everyone did something like that every once in a while...they too would see how good it feels to be unselfish. We are all so selfish at times....take the time to take a step back and do something that helps someone that you don't even know!!

Happy Thanksgiving:-)

Happy 11th Birthday Brenden!!!!

I can't believe Brenden is already 11. Geez...it seems like yesterday I was meeting him for the first time. Joel and I took the kids to the drag races. I was so nervous. I was afraid his kids wouldn't like me. I was on my best behavior...and even let Haley sit on my shoulders the WHOLE race! I thought I was going to die by the time the races ended...but it was worth it. Haley thought I was pretty cool! I never knew that I would be a step mom one day....and what a blessing it is. I feel like my relationship with both Haley and Brenden grows every year! I look forward to many more birthdays with both of them!

We took Brenden out to PF Changs for his B-Day dinner....and bought him a new skateboard!

Happy Birthday Brenden!!!!

Weekly Menu

This is pretty funny.... We had a halloween party over the weekend which left us with LOTS of leftover hot dog buns...and hot dogs! I just can't bring myself to waste any of it...so I am finding any and all recipes I can use hot dogs and hot dog buns in. This should be interesting:-) I am not sure which night we will have what....but these are some of the ideas I found and/or came up with! I will let you know how they turn out!

Garlic Bread

Tuna Melts

Cinnamon Toast

Pizza

Sloppy Joes

Buttered Rolls

Grilled Cheese

Weekly Goals 11/1/10

My goals are pretty much the same every week....and the regular goals are there even if I don't post them. What I post is what I feel I am having a hard time with...and even if they sound so simple and normal to most of you...I just can't seem to get them down! Mostly because I don't like things like...laundry....working out....eating good...etc... Do any of us? I was talking to my husband the other day and I told him that I am starting to get angry with myself because I can't get my butt back into shape. I am totally being lazy....and week after week....I have to write on my goal results that I DIDN'T work out like I wanted to! I feel like I did the same thing with smoking. I tried to quit over and over again....finally I got pissed that I couldn't do it and I tried again and have been successful so far...over 6 months now SMOKE FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So...I was telling Joel I feel like I am at that point with the whole health thing. I am starting to get mad that I am not doing what I am setting out to do! I know that I can do this.....it's really not that hard...and I know that I want to do this...and I will feel better...look better....be a better example to my kids....live longer....etc.. I could go on and on with reasons I need to make this change in my life. Does this mean that I can never eat bad again?/ NO....but it does mean that I will make a big enough adjustment to see better results. I haven't gained any weight recently...so I am maintaining...but that is NOT what I want. I want to lose some weight...and be in better shape! So, with that being said I am only going to set myself a few goals this week...and they will all have to do with health:-)

1. Workout 3-4 times this week

2. No eating out!

3. Portion control and eating healthy snacks

4. LOTS of water...no soda!

5. At least 8 hours of sleep each night

6. Eat breakfast!
