Astronaut Training Center

Thomas went to the Astronaut Training Center with his school last week. What a cool field trip. Last year Thomas complained that they didn't go on ANY cool field trips so I am glad they went on this one. Thomas came home that evening and talked about what a cool place it was and how much he learned:-) One of the room Mom's was nice enough to send me these pictures! I wish I could have gone too!!

Our Crape Myrtle FINALLY bloomed!

We are totally excited!!! When we bought the tree it wasn't tagged so we had no idea what color it would be. Most of the threes at that nursery were red so we assumed it was going to be red. We waited...waited...waited...everyone else's crapes in our neighborhood had already bloomed...so we kept waiting....and waiting...and FINALLY ours started to bloom and it's sooo pretty! It's pink and kind of purple color. We both love it. Does it mean Joel and I are getting old when we sit outside in the evening talking about when our crape myrtle is going to bloom and anticipating it's color?? LOL! Oh life is good:-)

The is what we have had the past few months....FINALLY this is what we found!!!!

My 30th B-Day

I didn't plan on having back surgery less then I week from my 30th b-day...but what can you do? My husband and family still made it perfect. Everyone came to the house and my Mom and Sis made the best dinner EVER!!!! Joel managed to have everyone put in on the best b-day gift I could have ever asked for. I got a new lens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really wanted this lens...the Canon 50mm F1.4...YES!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to start playing with it!!! I am IN HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who put in on this and made this happen for my B-Day! I love you all:-)

My Hospital Visit

Mom and I get to the hospital around 10am. The surgery wasn't scheduled until 1:30...but you know how that goes...you have all kinds of stuff to do for prep. They took me back to the pre-op room around 12:30....asked me 100 questions, goy my IV going and asked if I was ready? I told them I was as ready as I was going to be . The meds started kicking in and the last thing I remember is going into the ER...there were tons of people in there and they were playing music...then I was out:-0
I woke up in recovery and the nurse told me where I was and asked how I was feeling....it took me a few minutes to come to. When I did they wheeled me to ky room where my Mom, Step-Dad and my son where waiting for me. I was happy to see them:-)

The nurse really javked up my IV...It was bleeding and my hang was all swollin...I had throw a fit to convince them to give me another IV. After sticking me 100 times in my left arm they finally got it right UGH!!
Jacked UP IV
All BETTER:-)

My favorite part of the whole thing was the Morphine drip...oh yeah....wasn't in much pain while I was there. The only part that was tough was getting up and down:-(

I had to stay in the hospital until Sunday. My family and friends spent as much time with me as they could. This was me after surgery:-) Lookin good I know...what can I say>>

They sent me home on Sunday with all kinds of meds...but nothing like the morphine drip...so I am in a little pain but I guess that's just part of the healing process. I can't wait to get well and have a normal back again:-) Looking forward to getting back into shape and getting more into my photography, blogging, cooking and scrapbooking!!!!

Back Surgery:-(

Well...the time has come. I am going under the knife tomorrow at 12:00pm sharp...get it...sharp...lol...ok anyway:-) They have decided to do two fusions in my lower back. Other then the fact that it's going to fix me in the long run I really don't know what it is...and don't care. I just want to be better! I am going to be out of work for 4 weeks...but will be able to work from home after a week or so.

I am a little nervous...but know that everything will be fine. I am in good hands and it will all be worth it soon! I asked the doctor how long it would be before I can work out (I am starting to get fat...dang it) and he said that after 6 weeks I should be good to go and that he recommends YOGA! Did he say YOGA??? YAY!!!!!!!!! That's what I want to start doing. This is all working out great. I am going to be a NEW woman. Not sure if you have read other blogs...but I have been trying to quit smoking FOREVER!!!!!!! I can't justify spending $109/month on YOGA unless I quit smoking. So the plan is for me to quit smoking after the surgery and then start YOGA! Will this all happen as planned?? Who knows...but I can tell you that I determined to try my damndest to make it all happen!!!

So...I will post an update after the surgery...pics and all. I know it's sad that I told Joel when he comes to visit me in the hospital "please bring the camera...I need pics for my blog". He just laughed..LOL. Oh and don't worry...no gross pictures...just me hanging out after surgery!

I guess that's all for now! See you guys after the surgery:-)

Junior High

Oh to be young again. Junior High was my favorite time of school. So much changes...you are not a little kid anymore....and you think you are grown..lol. That is where Thomas is now. He started the 7th grade yesterday OMG!!! I am not even 30 but saying that makes me feel old. He had a great day today and said he thinks it's going to be a great year. We have talked about how important these next two years are for him. He really wants to go to Jesuit which is a private High School that isn't easy to get into. They look at your grades from 7th and 8th grade. So....we will see how it goes. Thomas is plenty smart enough to get into the school. I am confident he will do it!!!!

I look forward to the school year....watching Thomas grow....going to basketball games....carnivals...muffins with mom....and anything else that goes on. It's fun!!! I think this is going to be one grade that Thomas will never forget. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to watch my son grow!!!! He is such a sweet, loving smart young man that makes me a prod MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!
