Thomas and I went on a little staycation this past weekend. It was lots of fun! What a great way to get away and go on a vacation...but not have to expense of actually "going" somewhere:-) It was nice!
We started out our staycation at "The Holocaust Museum". Wow...what an experience. I didn't know half of the stuff that I learned at this museum. What a sad reality that things like this have really happened. Ugh....it got my in my gut:-(
Then we went to the "The 6th Floor Museum" which was really neat. It was sad...but interesting to learn all of the details of the Kennedy assassination. Sometimes you live in a city for years and never see what the tourist come in town for...so that is what Thomas and I did:-)
Next, we walked around downtown Dallas a little...and learned some more about it's history.
We stopped in at "The Cosmic Cafe" for lunch. This is out FAVORITE place to eat in Dallas. It's a vegetarian restaurant...but it's YUMMMMY! You will never miss the meat here....well...my husband might....but most people wouldn't...lol.
After we were done with the museums and lunch we went to check into our hotel. We stayed at The Gaylord Texan. It' s a beautiful hotel located on lake Grapevine. Joel and I got married on lake Grapevine...and stayed the night of our wedding here at The Gaylord:-) The room was really nice. We got checked in and decided to head down to the pool for a bit. It was PACKED...but we hung out and swam for a little while. Then we went back to our room...to relax...order some room service and chill until it was time to get ready to head out for the show.
We went to see "The Cirque du Soleil - Dralion". It was AMAZING! If you have never been YOU MUST GO! It really is a great show! Here is a clip of the show:-) One of the coolest things is that everything is live...the music...the singing...It's AWESOME!
After the show we headed back to our room...ordered room service...stayed up late watching movies...then crashed out!
We got up the next morning...checked out and headed out to spend the day with my sister!
It was a very short staycation...but lots of fun! We got a lot done in one day:-) Whew!
I am playing another short trip for up this spring....we are going to head to New Orleans....to check it out. I am looking forward to a little voodoo....swamplands...gators....and some delicious FOOD!!!!
